Nepean Belle Paddlewheeler is a Sustainable Tour Operator
Managing the impact our business has on the environment is very important to us, especially as our business operates in the natural river environment cruising into the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.
We have reduced our carbon footprint considerably since buying the business in 2013 and we continue to monitor the efficiency of operations with the aim of reducing our carbon footprint even further where possible.
Some of the ways we have made our operations more sustainable and environmentally friendly are:
Installation of a Large Solar Harnessing System
40 high efficiency solar panels have been installed to the roof of the Nepean Belle Paddlewheeler office to reduce our reliance on mainstream fossil fuels.Efficient Cruising
The Nepean Belle travels along the Nepean River at low speed, maximising the efficiency of our diesel engines.Efficient Storage Operations
Our Freezer Room and Cool Room equipment is kept clean, tidy and well maintained and serviced on a regular basis, helping to reduce our overall energy consumption.Regular Maintenance
The Nepean Belle is serviced and maintained on a regular basis so that the diesel engines are always operating as efficiently as possible. Our maintenance schedule is designed to reduce the risk of potential issues to avoid environmental impact of any kind.Waterway Impact Analysis
We ensure that the operations of our river cruises present no impact or damage to the river flow, health and shoreline.Wastewater Removal
All wastewater from the Nepean Belle and the Office premises is removed and processed by a licensed waste treatment facility.
